Grandma brings unique soft-sided infant play pen alternative to market.
Grandmother turned entrepreneur receives patent and launches e-commerce website at www.grandmasbabies.com to sell soft-sided play pen products globally.
Arroyo Grande, Calif., September 12, 2007 – Sue Hoffman is a Grandma on a mission – a mission to give infants and toddlers a fun, safe, and stimulating place to play and rest. “It’s not a play pen – play pens feel and look like cages. And, it’s not a flat boring play mat either. I like to think of it more like a plush nest where babies can safely play, rest, and dream without feeling confined.” says Grandma Sue. “But the best things about my “Infant Play Yard” are really designed for Moms and Grandmas (Dads and Grandpas too I guess). You see, my “Infant Play Yard” is ultra portable, completely machine washable, and its designed to be fun so babies stay happy longer.”
Grandma Sue came up with the ideas for her “Infant Play Yard” through her experience of helping care for her own 6 grandchildren. Over the last 15 years, she has experimented and refined her vision by leveraging her impressive skills as a seamstress and her over-the-top, nothing is too good for my grandbaby mentality. “I’m no different than any other Grandma, I just had the sewing skills to build what I needed and then kept tinkering with each successive grandchild until I had my play yard just right.” says Grandma Sue.
Grandma Sue’s “Infant Play Yard” is constructed of fabric covered foam arches tension supported by a plush play surface with 10-inch tall quilted fabric side walls. The play yard is completely machine washable and designed to be more portable than conventional rigid play pens. It features musical buttons integrated into the mat so that active babies are rewarded with music whenever they roll over the buttons. The current version of the “Infant Play Yard” has a jungle
theme and comes with 4 animal shaped plush fabric toys attached to the side walls and 3 optional toys designed to hang from the support tubing. Each toy features a music button, sound box, krinkle fabric, or mirror embellishment that helps keep babies entertained. All the toys are safely made in the USA.
The “Infant Play Yard” also comes with an optional tent cover – Grandma Sue discovered that once her older grandbabies were able to leave the play yard on their own, they would often gather other toys, bringing them back into the play yard for more fun. Toddlers enjoy climbing inside the “Infant Play Yard” with the tent cover in place, creating an instant fortress or camping tent for their healthy young imaginations. A set of mini-flashlights are provided to highlight the experience. The “Infant Play Yard” is easy to assemble and can be transported or stored in its reusable plastic carrying case.
“I never dreamed of actually manufacturing and selling my handiwork to the public.” says Grandma Sue. “My family and friends helped convinced me that my products could have global appeal and although it is a little late in my life to start an entrepreneurial venture, I am very excited to share my products with the world.
Grandma’s Babies is also currently producing Grandma Sue’s “Infant Support Chair”, a patent pending product which transforms common restaurant high-chairs into safe and sanitary padded fabric support chairs for infants and newborns. Grandma Sue’s “Infant Support Chair” and “Infant Play Yard” are both available for secure online purchase via the company’s e-commerce website located at www.grandmasbabies.com.
